This month, we relaunched it with new packaging and two additional ingredients, built around a single goal: to help skin hold its moisture for longer while keeping the cooling, lightweight feel people already reach for.

What Cool Down has always been
Cool Down is a cooling gel moisturizer. The texture is light and refreshing, the formula is non-comedogenic and oil-free, and it suits all skin types. None of that changed. Our focus for this reformulation was staying power. We wanted you to enjoy the benefits of all-day moisture without feeling greasy.
How a gel moisturizer locks in hydration
Skin loses water throughout the day through transepidermal water loss (TEWL). This is why your face can feel hydrated in the morning and tight by the afternoon. The most effective approach draws water into the skin, then helps keep it there. The reformulated Cool Down does both, with two ingredients added for exactly that purpose.
The two new ingredients
Hydrogenated polyisobutene
This ingredient is a lightweight emollient that forms a thin, breathable film on the skin surface. In a study in the Journal of Cosmetic Science, a formula containing hydrogenated polyisobutene reduced transepidermal water loss by roughly 33 percent. The result is moisture that stays put, with a smooth, non-greasy finish that keeps the formula weightless.
Sodium polyglutamate
This humectant and film-forming biopolymer binds water at the skin surface. Polyglutamic acid forms a microgel film that limits water loss while supporting the skin's natural moisturizing factor, which helps the surface layer retain water. Skin feels plumper and more comfortable, with hydration that holds.
The two work as a dynamic duo. Sodium polyglutamate draws in and holds water, and hydrogenated polyisobutene helps seal it in.
What stayed the same
Never fear, we protected what people already love. Cool Down retains the same cooling gel-cream texture, weightless feel, and fit across skin types. It is still non-comedogenic and oil-free. This reformulation offers more staying power for your hydration, with the same blissful experience.
How to use it
Apply Cool Down after your serums, morning and night, as the hydrating step in your routine. In the morning, follow with Block Party for daily SPF. In summer, it pairs especially well after sun exposure, when skin appreciates a calm, cooling layer of moisture.
